Free Pattern: Snowlace

Snowlace
 

Supplies:

158 yards 3mm white polypropylene twist or braid
1- 2 inch ring
1- 3 inch ring

Cut:

24 - 6 1/2 yard cords
2 - 1 yard cords

STEP 1: Fold 6 1/2-yard cords in half over 2" ring and use 1-yard cord
to tie 1" wrap.

STEP 2: Drop down 3 inches and double half hitch all cords onto 3"
ring

STEP 3: Tie nine rows or 4 inches of alternating square knots,
closing each knot to form solid cone.

STEP 4: Divide cords into four groups of 12 cords each. Number cords 1 through
12 left to right.(You will take a group of three square knots from the last row of
alternating square knots to form a group of 12 cords for a post.) Each sinnet to be
done as follows:
A. Ttie a square knot with cords 3-6 and 7-10 (close under last row).
B. Tie a square knot with cords 1-4 and 9-12
C. Tie a square knot using cords 4 and 9 as tying cords and 5-8 as fillers.
D. Tie a square knot with cords 1-4 and 9-12.
E. Tie a square knot with cords 3-6 and 7-10.
F. Tie one square knot with cords 5-8.

You now have completed one snowflake.

STEP 5: Repeat steps a. through f. for a total of three snowflakes.

STEP 6: Drop 3 inches and tie one square knot with cords 5-8. repeat steps a.
through f. for one complete snowflake.

STEP 7: Drop 3 inches and tie one square knot with cords 5-8. repeat steps a.
through f. for three complete snowflakes.

STEP 8: Repeat step 4a through step 7 for the three remaining posts.

STEP 9: Alternate cords from each sinnet, taking six cords from each side of
snowflake. Renumber cords from left to right 1 through 12.

STEP 10: To form cradle, drop 3 inches and tie a square knot with cords 5-8. Repeat
a. through f. to form one complete snowflake.

STEP 11: Repeat steps 8 and 9 with each sinnet to form cradle.

STEP 12: Drop down 2 inches from each snowflake and using the 1-yard cord, tie a
1-inch wrap, trim tail to 14 inches long.
