Craft Book: Beauty in Boutiquing
Using Jewels, Sequins and Beads
1967 Craft Course Publishers
24 Pages

"Boutique" as used today means the elaborate decorating of practical as well as non-practical objects. This may be done by painting, pinning, gluing, or securing lace, glitter, jewels, feather or whatever you desire onto an object.

Useable decorative boutiqued items include handbags, wastebaskets, desk accessories, boudoir or bath items, and even candles. Boutiquing on boxes will turn a lowly tissue box, card box, stamp box, or hat box into an elegant object of art. Even clothing such as sweaters, blouses, etc that have jewels, embroideries or feathers sewn on them is a form of boutiquing.

As a child you may have helped your grandmother fashion beads of dried rose petals, then decorated them with lacquer or wax - or you may have made a bracelet of steel-cut buttons, or wood-burned and painted a glove box, then linted it with silk or velvet - these were all forms of boutiquing.

In this book, we will try to suggest many new ideas to you, as well as remind you of a few "tried but true" old ones that you may have forgotten. The novice as well as the experienced craftsmen will find endless satisfaction and enjoyment in creating an "original boutique."
